Pacific Moon
On an early morning in March 2022, the full moon set over the Pacific just as the sun began to rise, creating a few quiet moments when light, color, and location found perfect balance.
Part of my Here, Now series, this piece features a pleated origami pattern I designed specifically for the image, printed on specialized Japanese kozo (mulberry) paper. The intricate hand-creasing and folding required several days to complete, made possible by this remarkable material's unique combination of strength and thinness. The three-dimensional surface responds to changing light throughout the day, creating a viewing experience that shifts with time. This work explores the potential for harmonious interplay between modern technology and traditional craft, digital and physical realms, and timelessness and momentary existence—transforming a fleeting natural alignment into a tactile object that invites viewers to experience their own moment of presence and connection.
