Henderson’s Shooting Star

from $70.00

Henderson's Shooting Star, Dodecatheon hendersonii, also known as Broad-leaved Shooting Star, Sailor Caps, or Mosquito Bills, is a distinctive spring wildflower native to western North America.

In springtime, this plant emerges from dormancy as a modest clump of soft green, oval or spoon-shaped leaves forming a basal rosette. Above this foliage rises a slim leafless flower stalk bearing spectacular nodding flowers with magenta to deep lavender petals swept backward, resembling miniature shooting stars or wind-blown umbrellas

Each print is made by the artist using archival quality pigment ink on Moab's Entrada Rag Bright 300 paper.
